48-year-old Susan Boyle Vows Simon Cowell in Britain’s Got Talent
64
First look of her, everyone, the judges and the audience think she is wasting her time and theirs. But the moment she starts singing everyone is floored including the tough customer Simon Cowell, the American Idol judge also judging this show “Britain’s Got Talent”.
Susan Boyle is a charity worker from West Lothian, is trying out her skills in a talent competition at a very late age, but nevertheless she is determined to try her talent out and comes out a great winner.
She acts little bit eccentric to other people’s tastes, which at the beginning puts many people off in the video, but as soon as she starts singing a song in Les Miserables “I Dreamed A Dream” the whole audience is stunned.
All three judges, Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan gave her high praises and so will you after you listen to this incredible performance.
Boyle has come from modest beginnings just like Jean Valjean in Les Miserables, she has suffered all these years, hope she makes it in the end. It is too bad her talent was ignored all these years.
The clip of her audition has been viewed 7 million times in less than 5 days.
Lyrics for the song:
I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high and life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine untasted
But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they turn your hope apart
As they turn your dreams to shame
He slept a summer by my side
He filled my dreams with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came
And still I dream he'd come to me
That we would live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather
I had a dream my life would be
So different from the hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed

It was fantastic watching her. A woman who would not be looked at once, let alone twice if you passed her on the street. Her actions back to Simon were a defensive trait you could see she has had to use in the past. I could feel her being taunted about her lack of finess and the low expectations of people in the audience. And she blew them away. God, I love moments like these when reality hits people fair in the mouth, in the face, in their hearts. Real people whos lot in life has not afforded them self absorbtion of the glossy magazine meme.
Go Susan Boyle, you give us hope - knock em dead.
Me too as her voice was beautiful.:)
The few voices that God listens to....this woman is one of those. Thank you for posting this.
She sings like an angel. It's unfortunate that show business is 80% about the "packaging" and only 20% about the talent. You can cover a multitude of missed notes and limited vocal range with a hot booty and bleached hair.
I'm torn on what to hope for Susan. On the one hand, she is so refreshing just as she is. On the other hand, I imagine what a team like Nick and Carmodie from "What Not to Wear" could do with her -- every woman can be made to be beautiful.
Here comes the hopeless romantic in me. Wouldn't it be swell if Susan met up with that butcher who got a standing ovation when he sang opera on TV (I believe it was the same show -- Britain's Got Talent)???
I listed to Susan Boyle sing and brought me to tears. People are really cruel and never judge a book by it's cover. What talent and wasted for our enjoyment for many years. You go girl and I am definately going to buy your first CD even if I have to stand in line.
Wow and I do mean wow. I had tears running down my cheeks and her voice and song that she sang - spectacular. She definately has the "last laugh" but she is more than likely way above any pettyness. What a loss for all of us to wait all this time for her fabulous singing.
Susan's is an amazing story - she chose the song herself and it seems to mirror so much of her experience - Thanks for posting the lyrics here - agree 100% with the Hub and above comments.
Thanks to the Internet the 'little people' sometimes get the recognition they deserve. Bravo Susan!
Even though this story is all over the media, it is justly so. An example beautiful angels living among us, if only we could hear with our hearts. Love the fact that you put in the lyrics. I've watched the videos a number of times over the last few days and her essence and voice still brings a lump to my throat and tears of joy.
Hey cgull8m,
I think she could win the show!! Great singer and extreamly nice and down to earth person!
Good luck Susan!!
Yes, she"wowed" us here in England, then five minutes later the sane ones among us sobered up and the hype evaporated like so much "Hairy angel" hot air.Its not so much as rags to riches as rags and nothing has changed.
How cynical we are when someone does not meet our preconceived notions of beauty, age, and grace. It was nice to see the underdog get a win, even if it was not on the show where she made her worldwide debut. thanks for presenting this here.

She is absolutely wonderful!!! I have seenit, yet here again is another example of how others pass someone by because they are judging the book by its cover and not looking at the inside or looking to see what kind of talent they really have. She has a gift, a gift of voice that is beautiful through and through. :)
